We met Heather via video chat to discuss what we were looking for. When we found a home we were very interested in, she did a virtual walk through tour of the home and property so that we could see everything.
We put an offer in and she worked to get us the best price that she could. Once accepted, Heather helped navigate us through our conditions providing us with a list of inspection companies. Once we picked one, she made arrangements with the home inspector on our behalf to ensure it was completed in a timely fashion. She also referred us to a lawyer and an electrician for work that needed to be completed.
We were in contact with Heather for our entire trip to New Brunswick as our closing date was arriving. After a long rough trip, she met us (with COVID restrictions) so that we could do a walk through of our new home. She told us that while we were viewing our home for the first time she would be right back. She knew that we were tired and still had 2 trucks plus vehicles to unpack while being quarantined for 14 days. She surprised us with bags and bags of groceries to get us through until our family could get us more food and necessities. Who would choose to sell a house during the Covid-19 pandemic?
We didn’t want to choose that but had to do so. My husband developed cancer and we needed to be closer to his doctors and hospital appointments. Heather understood our anguish and helped in every way including providing a great deal of emotional support.
We were worried about how to keep our home safe for my husband’s compromised immune system as we dealt with the paperwork, visits by prospective buyers, realtor meetings, negotiations. Heather ensured that we were well aware of all the preventative behaviours: hand washing, mask wearing, social distancing, disinfecting door knobs, providing Lysol wipes and sanitizing sprays, limiting in-person interactions.
Heather made sure that photos were taken safely, showings were fast, sanitary and efficient, surfaces that were touched were wiped with disinfectants. She ensured that other realtors and the prospective buyers were aware of our concerns about cleanliness. We were still in a virus stage which allowed people to come into the house but if we had not been, she would have video taped the house as a way to do showings.
We eliminated unnecessary personal contact by using phone calls, email, signing documents online. Heather talked us through everything, explaining in detail what we needed to consider, sometimes spending a lot of time listening to our worries.
We sold the house in a few days, thanks to Heather’s efficient and methodical attention to details. She made sure nothing was overlooked and all details were dealt with. She kept us on track from the very first conversation until the final day when the sale closed. We were grateful for her guidance and for her warmth and understanding of our situation.
We made a hard decision to sell our home in December 2020, during this deadly pandemic. Heather made it work for us and kept us from getting lost on that journey. She also made it safe. We are grateful for her advice, patience and efficiency, and above all, her warmth and kindness in this challenging move.
